What is an Online Signature Generator?

An online signature generator lets you create a handwritten-style signature without printing, signing and scanning paper. With SignMaker.top you can draw your signature with a mouse, finger or stylus — the ink is smoothed automatically so it looks natural — or type your name and choose from 10 handwritten fonts that look like real pen strokes.

Every signature can be downloaded as a transparent PNG (perfect for Word documents, emails and forms) or as an SVG. You can also upload a PDF and place your signature exactly where it belongs, then download the signed file. Everything runs 100% in your browser: your signature and your documents are never uploaded to any server.

How to Create and Use Your Signature

  1. Draw or type — sketch your signature on the canvas, or enter your name and pick a handwritten font style.
  2. Adjust the look — change ink color, pen size and smoothing until it matches your real signature.
  3. Download your signature as a transparent PNG or SVG — no watermark, ready for any document.
  4. Sign a PDF (optional) — open the Sign PDF tab, drop in a document, click where the signature goes, then drag and resize it.
  5. Export the signed PDF — the file is assembled locally in your browser and saved straight to your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this signature generator really free?

Yes. You can draw or type unlimited signatures, download them as transparent PNG/SVG and sign PDFs without an account, watermark or payment.

Are electronic signatures created here legally binding?

In most cases, yes. In the United States, the ESIGN Act (2000) and UETA give electronic signatures the same legal status as handwritten ones for most contracts. The EU's eIDAS regulation similarly recognizes electronic signatures. However, some documents — such as wills, court orders, notarized deeds or certain real-estate filings — may still require wet ink or a qualified digital certificate. This tool creates an image of your signature; for high-stakes legal documents, check local law or consult a professional. Nothing here is legal advice.

Is my signature or PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Everything — drawing, font rendering, PDF editing — runs entirely in your browser on your own device. We never see, store or transmit your signature or your documents. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tools keep working.

How do I add my signature to a PDF?

Open the Sign PDF tab and drop in your document. Click anywhere on the page to place your signature, drag it into position and resize it with the corner handle. When it looks right, click Download signed PDF. The signed file is generated on your device — the original PDF is never uploaded.

PNG or SVG — which format should I download?

PNG works everywhere: Word, Google Docs, email clients, image editors. Choose SVG if you are a designer and want a file that scales to any size without losing sharpness — drawn signatures export as true vector paths.

Can I use my signature image in Word or Google Docs?

Yes. Download the transparent PNG, then in Word go to Insert → Pictures and place it over the signature line (set Wrap Text to In Front of Text if needed). In Google Docs use Insert → Image → Upload from computer. The transparent background keeps the page clean.

Why does my drawn signature look smoother than my mouse movements?

The drawing engine uses stroke smoothing and pressure simulation: it turns your raw pointer path into tapered, calligraphy-like strokes. Adjust the Smoothing slider to keep more of your natural motion, or reduce pen size for finer lines.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes. The canvas supports touch and stylus input (including Apple Pencil and Surface Pen) with pressure sensitivity. Signing with a finger on a touchscreen usually gives the most natural result.
